Well, the big snow event that I've been forecasting for the past week is upon us and as forecasted, the southern portion of MS received alot of snow. Some areas in Jackson are reporting 6" inches of snow. A very small amount compared to other states usual amounts but very significant here in MS.
Below is a map depicting snow amounts by Friday afternoon. Each line represents a snowfall range within the counties of MS. As you observe, noticed that the further south you go the more snow. Reason being is that more moisture south than up north. Oktibbeha and Lowndes county just missed being in that 1" range of snow.

However, there was a period of light snow here in Starkville but with no accumulation. The main reason for that was that our region was just too dry. We had the right type of conditions and cold air aloft, but too dry on the surface layer. It was still very pleasant to see the snow!
For the Starkville area and other areas which didn't recieve accumulating snow, don't worry because with the pattern we're having this month we could certainly see another round of this. Enjoy Valentine's Day Sunday for all the couples out there and God bless!
Friday: High of 38 and partly sunny
Friday night: Low of 22 and partly cloudy conditions
