Tonight: 44 as your low with mostly clear conditions

~Starkville, MS

Currently
Good afternoon everyone and a happy Friday to you all! Once again we have approach another weekend. I don't know about you all but I really felt tired and lazy this week. Something about coming back after Spring Break that makes one tired for some reason. Also, I can tell that "senoritis" has set in as well, but I still have to stay focused. Right now in the Starkville area, we are overlooking cloudy skies after a passing front on yesterday. Temperatures are in the upper 40s now, so a little on the cool side and breezy conditions are making things even cooler.

What's Happening
850 mb shows some cold air advection in the area which the reason for the coolness in the air. The clouds are lingering from a low pressure system that pass through the region yesterday morning. On the water vapor imagery, dry air will soon start to pour in later today and by then those thick stratus clouds should be gone out of the area. Even as we speak, the very western edge of Mississippi is seeing a break in the clouds. Temperatures are higher there as well, so we should be getting warmer here as soon as those clouds begin to lift.

Today
Don't think that those clouds will continue to linger throughout the day. Sunny and milder temperatures are coming to give us a pleasant afternoon. Temperatures will end up in the lower 60s with winds out of the northeast at 10mph. So, today will be on the cool today with windy conditions but it will be great to have the sun out to start us off on our weekend. Tonight, looks to be mostly clear which will allow for us to see some stars out tonight as well as make it a rather chilly night. You might want to have a light jacket on as temperatures fall to the lower 40s. By the night, winds should be out of the east.

Weekend outlook
A jekyll and hyde type of weekend and please let me explain. Saturday would be more like Dr. Jekyll with beautiful conditions and with lots of sun out. This is due to warm air advection accompany by dry condition. Saturday would be one of those days to go fishing. Now, I would compare Sunday to Mr. Hyde in that another round of showers with a passing of a cold front is expected early Sunday morning producing possible thunderstorms. I don't expect the rain to stay all the day and should be completely out of here by the time you get out of church. I do think Sunday will be much cooler than Saturday with low stratus clouds. Enjoy the weekend and may God continue to bless you!

Currently
Hi everyone and a good Wednesday to you all. A wonderful day to be outside to with sunny and warm conditions. A great day to be outside whether its biking, having a picnic, or even if you want to do some light studying or reading. Temperature is sitting at 67 currently and is expecting to get to the mid 70s by the end of the day.

What's Happening
High pressure in the area is allowing for warm and pleasant conditions to persist throughout the Southern regions such as MS, LA, and AL. This high pressure is combine with warm moist air from the Gulf as well. However, be sure to enjoy today as our next chance of rain will come tomorrow along with a cold front system.

Today
For today, we will see very few clouds with the day filled with sunny conditions mostly. Look for highs to be well into the mid 70s with winds out of the south at 10 mph. A warm night ahead as lows will only fall to the lower 50s. Maybe some stray showers but nothing to worry about.

Tomorrow outlook
Don't be surprised to see alot of clouds in the sky as you wake up tomorrow morning. You may see some light showers by then but the bulk of the rain will come around the afternoon hours with highs approaching the upper 60s. Have the umbrella in handy as a decent amount of rain is on tap for that day. Have a great Wednesday enjoying the weather and God bless!

Monday forecast for March 22, 2010

Picture brought to you by the weather channel

Today: 49 high with cloudy conditions

Tonight: 41 low and mostly cloudy; foggy conditions

~Starkville, MS

A good Monday to you all and welcome back from Spring Break! I hope everyone had a very nice break and was able to enjoy time off from school; whether it was having fun along the beach or just relaxing at the house. I did alot of sleeping over the break, so I am well satisified! Wherever you were at, I hope temperatures and conditions were nice for you. Yesterday, a little cold snap came through the region only allowing for temperatures to get to the mid 40s. Some parts of MS saw snow even falling. I know as I was heading back toward Starkville yesterday from Jackson along Hwy 25, snow was falling but of course no accumulating snow occurred since conditions were unfavorable for any snow to stick.

Currently
Right now in the Starkville area, we are seeing overcast conditions with still that cool air in place. This is certainly not a good way to start off the week after Spring Break. Temperature is at 45 and is expecting to rise somewhat depending on how fast those clouds move off.

What's Happening
We have this cluster of clouds which is hanging around from the upper level low that passed through the Mississippi region yesterday. This upper level low brought in rain, non-accumlating snow in some parts of MS, as well as this cold air that is hanging around. So far, this system has moved off toward the east and will leave behind high pressure which is going to start a warming trend for the rest of the week. This high pressure is going to send warm air off the coast of Mexico which in turn will warm conditions up for us.

Today
For today, expect for clouds to hang around just a little bit longer up until sometime this afternoon. As some of those clouds begin to leave out, our temperatures should rise just a little. Highs will get to the lower 50s. Tonight, mostly cloudy conditions as lows fall to the lower 40s. Foggy conditions tonight, so be careful if your doing any traveling.

Tomorrow outlook
A very beautiful day tomorrow with a big difference in temperatures and conditions. Highs will get near the 70s and we will have ample of sunshine with only few clouds to fill the sky. The rain chance will probably come on Thursday. Despite the soggy conditions outside, enjoy the day and I'm happy to have you all back from Spring Break. God bless!

Spring Break Forecast

Picture taken from Google

Today: 64 with light scatter showers possible

Tonight: 42 with increasing clouds and a chance of rain

~Starkville, MS

This will be a very short discussion of the Starkville weather since most people will be out of town. First of all, I hope everyone enjoys their Spring Break. Be sure to relax and have fun! That is what Spring Break is all about. The most important thing to remember though is to be safe in everything that you do.

We are going to be seeing relatively cooler temps from now up to the beginning of next week. When I say cool I mean temperatures will be around the upper 50s for this weekend. I'm not just talking about the Starkville area but I'm also referring to southern regions especially at places like Destin. Its not cold, but it will be cooler from what we've been seeing this week. Waters are already cool especially along the coast, so to have cooler temps ahead won't help much. You're still be able to enjoy the beaches as plenty of sunshine will make conditions very pleasant. Temps will start to rise by mid next week. No major rain is expected before mid next week either.

Once again, be safe and have a wonderful Spring Break. God bless!

A Better Today

Picture brought to you by the weather channel

Today: High of 76 with partly cloudy skies

Tonight: Low of 50 with cloudy conditions

~Starkville, MS

A good Thursday to you! We are one day from Friday and therefore one day from enjoying Spring Break!!! I certainly can't wait! What all do I have planned for Spring Break you may ask! I am going to relax! That is all I am going to do. Hopefully, the weather will be nice unlike all of the stormy condition we had yesterday. Thunderstorms loomed throughout Mississippi with some areas not seeing anything. Here in Starkville, I heard a few rumbles here and there but nothing too serious. In areas such as central Arkansas, CNN reported that powerful tornadoes ripped through the state especially in Saline and Cleburne counties destroying homes and injuring two people. Along with those tornadoes, golf ball-sized hail felled and powerful thunderstorms went through the area. Tornado warning was lifted earlier today for there.

Currently
Right now in the Starkville area, we are seeing partly cloudy condition with the sun back out today after being under overcast conditions for all of yesterday. Temperatures are currently sitting in the mid 60s with moist conditions since the dewpoint is at 60. It makes the air feel sticky in a sense and we haven't even approach 10:00 a.m. yet! Southwest winds at 5mph is keeping things rather cool for us, so it's pretty pleasant outside right now.

What's Happening
At 850mb, we have some warm air advection which is giving us some warm temperatures that we are seeing now. The cold front that came through yesterday is moving off toward the east leaving behind this partly cloudy condition, but there is another front following this one and I believe is the reason for these really high temps for right now. This front doesn't contain any precip with, so don't expect rain today but rather warm temps. So areas such as Hattiesburg could see temperatures near 80!

Today
For today, we will continue to see partly cloudy with high cirrus clouds toward the late afternoon hours. Look for highs to climb all the way up to the upper 70s. I won't be surprise if we see 80 hit the scene with southeast winds b/w 5-10 mph. A nice day indeed to enjoy the sun with more clouds moving back into the skies later tonight ahead of another system which does have some rain. I believe most of the rain will fall around the midnight hours and early Friday morning. By 10 tonight, temperatures will be around 60 degrees.

Tomorrow outlook
Look for rain to linger throughout the early morning of your Friday. Most of the rain will occur during that time with scatter showers throughout the day. Cloudy conditions and relatively cooler temperatures will be the highlight of Friday. Enjoy the short break from the rain and God bless!

A Rainy Wednesday with a Potential for Severe Weather!!

Picture brought to you by the weather channel

Today: Showers and a possibility of severe weather during the late afternoon hrs; High of 61

Tonight: Scattered showers and some heavy at times with severe weather occurring b/w 6 and midnight; Low of 55; strong winds and possible hail may occur

~Starkville, MS

Hi everyone! I am so sorry for not updating you all on your Face of the Sky forecast! I have been so busy with school work and internship and I had to really devote all my time and attention to those areas. I hope you all can forgive your local meteorologist at least this once!

Currently
A very soggy Wednesday for us with overcast conditions to fill the sky. Dewpoints are near the actual temperatures and so whenever you have dewpoints close to the actual temps, you usually get very moist conditions like we're seeing now currently. Despite these soggy conditions, we are not cold at all with temperatures in the mid 50s now.

What's Happening?
We have this low pressure system that will bring scattered showers throughout portions of Mississippi, Eastern Texas, Lousiana, and Arkansas. Right now, models are showing conditions are favorable for severe weather tonight. This hazardous weather outlook is for Central MS, NE LA, and the SE AR area. The likely time for these storms to occur is between 6:00 here and midnight. We could see isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing good size hail, damaging winds, and possible tornadoes. Moderate instablity and increasing wind shear will combine ahead of an approaching upper level storm system to bring this threat for severe weather to the region.

Today
Highs of mid 60s to the 70s are expected. I don't really see temperatures going all the way to the 70s except for when the cold front pushes through it could raise temperatures up. What worries me (especially as a meteorologist) is that we are not seeing any sun out. The sun really adds to the instability in the air and instability is really crucial to having severe weather. If not much sun comes out, I really do not see conditions getting out of hand. Other conditions will have to factor in as well, but I'm just saying that we need some instability in order for any decent storm to form. The main ingredients for any severe weather is you need instability, moisture, and sheer. The best we'll see today is strong winds and hail. Best area to see a tornado will probably be in eastern portion of Arkansas. I'll definitely keep you updated on these conditions ahead. Temperatures today will get to the mid 60s with overcast conditions. Tonight, look for rain and strong winds. Rain will be heavy at times with thunderstorms to speak of. Again, I will continue to update you on anything that comes up concerning severe weather. Temperatures won't fall to much as lows will be down in the lower 50s.

Tomorrow outlook
We will continue to have on and off showers in the area, but we may have some clearing of the skies tomorrow. Temperatures will get up to the mid to upper 60s. Drop back tomorrow as I continue to bring you your latest Face of the Sky forecast. Have a great day and God bless!
