Arctic Air In Place

Today: High of 26 degrees with partly cloudy skies
Tonight: Low of 14 degrees with mostly cloudy skies

~Starkville, MS

Goodmorning everyone and I hope all is well with you! One word to summarize my current state right now and that word is cold! As you all are full aware it has been so dreadful cold these past couple of days with few periods of snow throughout Thursday. Yesterday's highs only reach 35 and this morning I woke up to a temperature of 16 degrees!! Talk about your cold weather! If you like cold winters, then this is definitely your type of season. As far as today's goes, temperatures will not rise too much today.

Although it will be sunny and for the most part a clear day, the sun will not make a bit of difference as temperatures struggle to make it to the mid 20s today. We are still in the midst of a deep trough which is sending some bitterly, cold Arctic air all over the south. Wherever you go in the south, it will be cold. Drier conditions has settle into the area and will continue to remain throughout the weekend. Tonight, temperatures will once again plummet to the teens with cloudy skies with winds out of the north at 5mph.

If your looking for the weekend to be warmer, then I'm afraid you'll have to wait til next week because the cold weather is here to stay for the weekend as well. Good news is that each day temperatures will gradually and slowly begin to warm up. For Saturday, highs will be in lower 30s with sunny skies while Sunday highs looks to be in the mid 30s. Lows for both nights will continue to be dreadful cold with temps in the mid teens. With little moisture in the air, snow will not play a part even though it will be awfully cold.

By next week, we will begin to see temperatures back on the rise and to its normal averages. Stay warm and take precautionary measures if you have to stay out in the weather or even drive in it. It was reported on WJTV that 40 accidents occurred in Northern MS on Thursday due to icy roadways. So, be careful if your out. Enjoy the weekend, try to stay warm, and God bless!
