Today: High of 38 with partly cloudy conditions/ winds NW at 5-10mph

Tonight: Low of 27 with cloudy conditions/ winds NW at 5mph

~Starkville, MS

A good Wednesday to you! Well, partly cloudy skies to start your day off after a very cold night last night. That Arctic air has really settled into the area giving us temperatures well below our average for this time of month. Currently, we are seeing cloudy conditions but we'll see some breaks in the clouds here and there. High will get up to to the upper 30s today with steady winds out of the northwest at 5 to 10mph. High pressure in place throughout the region will provide that cool dry air which will keep conditions rather cool for us for most of today.

Tonight, we are going to look at another cold night as temperatures falls back into the mid 20s again. Cloudy conditions will paint the skies with winds out of the northwest at 5mph.

Tomorrow, things begin to get interesting for us as we have a low pressure developing in the Texas region moving in our direction. Along with that comes some very cold air advection from the north which is going to make conditions even colder for Thursday night. So, with the combination of moisture and really cold air comes the chance of snow. It is still fairly early to see if we'll have snow here in Starkville and the amount of it. At this point, I'm ruling out the chance of any significant snow here. My reason for my decision comes based off the models which are showing the low pressure sticking close to the Gulf of Mexico. There's no doubt in my mind that it will be cold but with the low being so far south, I just don't believe we would have that much moisture here in place to accompany the cold air in place. Any places below Interstate 20 will see a decent amount of snow including Jackson, MS. More updates on this coming tomorrow!

Be sure to come back tomorrow as I continue to update you on this snow setup here in Starkville and this winter storm in MS. Thanks for looking at your Face of the Sky forecast and may God continue to bless you and keep you warm!
