~Jackson, MS

Currently
A good Tuesday to you all and I hope all is well. I don't know about you guys, but I am a little tired today mainly because I stayed up watching the lunar eclipse last night. Of course, visibility here was impossible due to the sky being mostly cloudy here, so I resorted to an online site that provided coverage on it. It was spectacular and it was worth staying up for. It is nearly impossible to see the change in the moon here around the Jackson and surrounding areas due to cloudy conditions which are still persisting today. However, temperatures are already very warm. It does not feel like the first official day of winter in which it is today. It almost feels "tropical" minus the sun. The warmth and chances for light rain will be the main story for today.

What's Happening Atmospherically
Like I just stated in my Current weather discription, we are under some thick stratus clouds that have persisted throughout overnight. These clouds condition are due because of a warm front moving in a northerly direction out of MS and behind this front is alot of moisture. This warm front as well as warm air advection are helping to keep temperatures unseasonably warm; not only just for the current moment but throughout the day.

So because of the hanging clouds and moisture today, this will give our area a chance to see some light showers in the area later this evening. Both the NAM/GFS are in agreement that light showers are probable later today and into Wednesday morning as the cold front starts to push its way through. I am not expecting much of rain with only light drizzle and isolated light showers. We will remain warm for the most part, but also as the approaching cold front pushes through from the northwest we will be under foggy conditions later tonight and into Wednesday morning. This frontal fog occurence is due because of the warm moisture the warm front is leaving behind converging with the cold front which is bringing cooler air. The patchy fog conditions will be found in areas such as central and southern MS and along interstate 20. Always in the case of fog, be sure if your traveling to slow down due to the amount of visibility while traveling.

Today
Although under overcast skies this morning, we will see some breaks in the clouds today as temperatures rises to the upper 60s and lower 70s today. Mostly cloudy for most of the day. We will be a bit breezy as well as south winds will be about 10 to 15mph.

Tonight
A light shower or drizzle is possible tonight as a cold front comes through. Along with that will be hazardous fog conditions, so be careful if your traveling overnight. Lows will fall to the mid 50s tonight with still heavy cloudy conditions.

Wednesday's outlook
A very light drizzle with foggy conditions early Wednesday morning. Even though the appearance of Wednesday morning will appear as though the day will be cold, temperatures will actually still stay up. It won't be quite as warm but we'll still have temperatures near 60.

Christmas forecast
Temperatures will get back to around normal as a cold front through the southern region will lower highs to around the upper 40s. Cold air will once again filter back into the region making this week a roller coaster concerning temperatures. Have a great day and God bless!
